CPL Architecture | Atrium Health Wake Forest + UNC Health Caldwell

These projects marked my fifth and sixth collaborations with CPL Architecture. For both assignments, I worked closely with the lead architect and members of the design team, who graciously stepped in as models to help bring the spaces to life. It is always a pleasure to partner with CPL and document the thoughtful environments they create.

One of the most important qualities in healthcare photography is flexibility. There is often a limited window to photograph active medical environments, and success depends on adapting to the needs of the facility while making the process as seamless as possible for the client. On any given day, medical staff, administrators, contractors, and facilities teams are all working simultaneously, each with responsibilities that cannot be interrupted. Whether accommodating patient care, navigating ongoing construction activities, or working around the transport of temperature-sensitive medical samples, every detail requires careful coordination and a flexible approach.

I enjoy this aspect of the work. It demands thoughtful planning, clear communication, and the ability to adapt as conditions change throughout the day. The challenge keeps me engaged and allows me to create images that feel authentic while respecting the operational needs of the healthcare environment.

Featured here are two projects photographed during the same month: a new wing at UNC Health Caldwell and renovations within Atrium Health Wake Forest. Both projects reflect CPL Architecture's commitment to creating healthcare spaces that support exceptional care, efficiency, and patient experience.

If you're looking for photography that showcases the design, function, and human experience of healthcare environments, I'd welcome the opportunity to collaborate. Let's connect and discuss how we can tell the story of your next project.

As the primary coordinator of project photography at my architecture and engineering firm, I have worked with Paul on several projects. I have found him to be exceptionally organized, responsive, and accommodating. Even when we faced shifting construction completion dates and unexpected staging challenges, he remained flexible and solution-oriented, helping us problem-solve and make things work on tight timelines!

His professionalism and positive attitude makes everything run smoothly, and we’re very happy with the final results. For firms that need to coordinate a lot of project photography captures at once, having a photographer like Paul who stays on top of things and helps to build schedules is a major asset.

Looking forward to working together again in the future!
