Photographing Belltower Green was one of the highlights of my work in 2025.
Located in the heart of historic downtown Salisbury, North Carolina, the park is a beautifully designed civic space that engenders play, contemplation, and appreciation of beauty. Cooper Carry Architecture invited me to document the project with a clear goal: to photograph the park as it was intended to be experienced.
Together, we identified key areas throughout the site that best expressed the design intent. I was mindful to include people using the park in natural, unforced ways—resting, moving through, gathering—so the images would reflect both the energy of the space and its quieter moments. I also gave special attention to the signage Cooper Carry designed, capturing how it integrates seamlessly into the broader landscape and architectural language of the park.
Belltower Green is the kind of place that invites return visits. Whether you’re visiting with family or seeking a moment of calm, it’s especially beautiful in the early morning just after opening or in the soft light before sunset. It’s a park I genuinely love and look forward to photographing again.
