Mimi and I began with a collaborative call to discuss a couple of homes she wanted photographed. She shared inspiration images and a mood board, emphasizing the importance of creating spaces that feel cozy, inviting, and moody—rooms that make someone want to settle in and stay awhile.
After reviewing her references, I developed a plan to capture the atmosphere she envisioned. I focused on single, motivated light sources, primarily from the side or back of each composition, carefully flagging off all other light to maintain the intended mood.
The shoot was highly efficient, completed in one full day and a half day, and we successfully achieved the desired effect in over 90% of the images. The final results reflect both the beauty of the interiors and the intimate, welcoming ambiance Mimi wanted to convey. And we had fun too!!
This project exemplifies my approach: listening to the client, translating vision into lighting and composition, and delivering images that bring spaces to life.
